AC Coin & Slot was founded just outside Atlantic City in 1978. Mac Seelig had the foresight to predict the growing need for quality service and creative products in the then incipient Atlantic City casino industry, AC Coin & Slot has grown from a home-based company to one of the largest of its kind in an industry known for its competitive marketplace.

In 1983, AC Coin & Slot became the exclusive distributor of IGT slot machines, focusing on creating proprietary games, enhancing customer success, and promoting IGT slot machine sales throughout U.S. and the Caribbean.

As the company grew, so did the family’s involvement, as one by one, the three Seelig sons joined the new company, each bringing his own signature brand of talent, business acumen, and techno-savvy to building and managing AC Coin & Slot into the driving force it is today. “Early on, we focused on promoting our product, and more importantly, getting the AC Coin & Slot name branded in the industry,” says Jason Seelig, Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing, and it has really paid off.”

By 1989, Jeff Seelig, the company’s Executive Vice President of Finance and Accounting, created a leasing division that leases machines to casinos in Atlantic City and the Caribbean.

“Proprietary games are a form of leasing,” says Jeff. “The company has excelled at developing games and bringing them to market. Our creativity can also be seen in the kinds of partnerships and agreements we have entered into, as demonstrated by the fact that we are growing our base of installed machines.

During the 1990s, the company broadened its product representation and territories, opening offices throughout the United States, including Las Vegas. They also introduced new products, and began designing proprietary slot bonus games, proving that the classic reel spinner, enhanced with innovative bonus features, is still one of the most popular casino games. The company also began to grow in additional capabilities.

“We accommodate a system to track everything from sales to bids,” says Executive Vice President of Operations and General Manager Jerry Seelig. “We also added to our ability to create custom millwork and glass signage, which played a central role in developing additional locations, including Las Vegas and Canada.”

In addition, the company’s deep understanding of the relationship between comfortable, supportive seating, as well as a well-sharpened knowledge of the ergonomic dynamics of casino play, proffered some of the gaming industry’s most successful slot seating systems, and improved casino profitability by increasing player comfort.

The company rolled out its first proprietary slot machine, an arcade-style bonus game for IGT’s dollar reel-spinner, called Bonus Road Rally , in the mid-1990s. While Road Rally didn’t catch on until the quarter version was released, AC Coin was already developing its next bonus product called The X Series. Special top boxes were produced for the IGT base reel-spinner X Series games, including Empire , in which a miniature gorilla climbs the Empire State Building in the top box. This gave the company its first set of proprietary hits that are still popular today.

In a continuing search for innovative ways to capture new players, Jerry Seelig created the now-famous Slotto®, the only game of its kind in North American casinos that appeals to Lottery players. “Because the familiar numbered Lottery balls were so popular with Lottery Players,” Jerry says, ”We designed a clear sphere with bonus balls inside to resemble the numbered Lottery balls, and combined the most appealing aspects of both the Lottery and slots into one, which was a hugely innovative concept at the time, and the chief reason for its success.” Other creatively innovative games soon followed, including Jack and the Beanstalk™, Merlin™, the brand new, innovative Mix and Match™ Series--Miss America® Slots and The Honeymooners™ in addition to Monster Match™, Double Diamond® Girls™ , and Silver City Roundup. In conjunction with IGT, the company unveiled King of the Grill™ , Little Green Men, Jr.™, and Bewitched ™, one of the most popular games to be launched in recent years.

By adding Slotto® features to other games, including Power Slotto® and the highly successful Bewitched™ Video Slots which it developed in an alliance with IGT and the iGame Plus™ platform, AC Coin has increased both its marketplace awareness and its ability to proliferate its product on casino floors.

The company also expanded its use of the Mix and Match™ Series with both The Honeymooners™ and Miss America® Slots, both making their debut in 2002. Also in 2002, the company was issued a number of U.S. Patents covering its award-winning Slotto® ball bonus game and similar games incorporating the company’s unique jumbled ball display, which protects the company’s rights to one of the truly unique slot machine games in use today.

Today, they continue to create more exciting games that allow players more interactivity and are more fun to play, and their innovative products are fast becoming an integral part of the industry’s continual evolution.

With the gaming industry in an upward growth pattern over the last 25 years, AC Coin & Slot has benefited from its relationship with IGT and has maintained its leadership in innovation and creativity as one of the country’s top slot manufacturers and diversified casino supply companies, and continues to uncover new opportunities that appeal to manufacturers, casinos, and players alike.

“Our future growth is hinged on our ability to grow the IGT franchise as well as to create new product and continue to amaze our customers,” Mac Seelig says. “Even though we’re a 25-year-old company, we believe we’re still in our infancy, and the Seeligs have never thought small.”
